A gun battle has erupted in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district, police said on Saturday.
They said the encounter started at Shirmal, Shopian during an anti militancy operation which was launched by joint forces following an input about militant presence.
Police and security forces are on the job, a police spokesman said.
This month security forces have stepped up anti militant operations in Kashmir and in June, 29 militants have been shot dead.
