In a veiled warning to Pakistan, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that if the neighbouring country fire a single bullet at Indian forces, they will get a befitting reply.
He said that it is in the Narendra Modi’s government that guns fell silent on borders and people are living in peace.
“Borders are silent now and people are living in peace,” Shah said addressing a public rally in Mendhar area of Jammu region in support of BJP candidate Murtaza Khan.
The bordering Poonch and Rajouri districts will go for voting in the second phase of Assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir on September 25.
“There was no ceasefire violation since long on Jammu borders and it is because Pakistan was scared of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said if the neighbouring country dares to fire a single bullet, we will give a befitting reply to them.”
Lashing out at the National Conference President Farooq Abdullah for “promoting terrorism” in Jammu and Kashmir, Shah said, “this area (Mendhar) witnessed frequent shelling from across the border during Abdullah’s time but it is the Modi government that ended unprovoked ceasefire violations on borders and people are now living in peace.”
He also blamed the NC, PDP and Congress regimes for depriving Paharis, Gujars and Bakerwals of their rights.
“The Abdullahs (Farooq, Omar) will not be able to reverse the Pahari reservation even if they turn themselves upside down,” the Home Minister said, adding that the BJP will also give reservation to the communities in promotions.
Through recruitments in police, army and other security forces, Shah said that the BJP will equip the youth of Paharis, Gujjars and Bakerwals to fight the terrorism.
He lashed out at Abdullahs, Muftis and Gandhi holding them responsible for the killing of around 40,000 people.
Shah, seeking votes in support of the party candidate, said that if the people of Mendhar ensure his victory, he will visit again for a night stay.
