Srinagar, (UNI) Senior Peoples Democratic Party leader Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura on Wednesday resigned from the post of general secretary of the party, sources in the PDP said.

They said Hanjura has cited “personal engagements” as the reason for resigning from the post. Hanjura also resigned as a member of PDP’s Political Affairs Committee, the highest decision making body of the party.

In a letter addressed to the PDP President Mehbooba Mufti, the former minister Hanjura said he would continue to work as basic member of the party.

“I do hereby resign from the post of general secretary of the party and as member of the political affairs committee today because of my personal engagements” Hanjura wrote in the letter.

A senior PDP leader confirmed Hanjura’s resignation from the post of General Secretary.

Despite repeated efforts Hanjura could not be contacted.
