Heavy rainfall accompanied by hailstorm lashed several parts of Kashmir on Monday, causing waterlogging in low-lying areas of Srinagar and bringing a sharp drop in the daytime temperature.
Officials said intense afternoon showers were reported from various parts of the Valley, including Srinagar, while hailstorms affected parts of Srinagar city and south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
The heavy downpour led to water accumulation in several localities, particularly in the old city areas of Srinagar, disrupting normal movement and inundating roads and low-lying stretches.
Officials said dewatering operations were launched in the affected areas to drain out the accumulated rainwater and restore normalcy.
The rainfall provided relief from the recent spell of hot weather, with temperatures falling noticeably across the Valley.(KINS)
