Hezbollah leader rejects ceasefire with Israel; says fighters will reject all attempts to create 'buffer zone' by IDF

Hezbollah leader Naim Qaseem, dismissing the current ceasefire with Israel said that the war is far from over yet.

“There is no ceasefire in Lebanon, but rather continuous Israeli-American aggression,” declared Naim in a written statement, vowing that the Islamist militia would “remain patient” and continue resisting Israel.

The Hezbollah chief argued that Israel “has not implemented a single step of the agreement, violating it more than 10,000 times, killing 500 civilians, wounding hundreds, destroying thousands of homes and livelihoods, and displacing people from their villages.”

Israel has maintained that its operations are defensive, targeting Hezbollah positions to prevent further attacks. The Israeli military has also said it intends to hold a “security zone” in southern Lebanon until the threat from Hezbollah is removed, restricting the return of residents to certain areas.

Qassem rejected that position outright. “There is no yellow line or buffer zone, and there will not be,” he said, accusing Israel of attempting to impose control over Lebanese territory by force. He added that Hezbollah remained committed to “reclaiming and liberating” the land.

Lebanese state media said that fighting had erupted between the IDF and Hezbollah in the south on Monday.

Lebanese officials say more than 2,600 people have been killed and over a million displaced since the escalation began. In Israel, at least 40 people have been killed by missile and drone attacks launched by Hezbollah and its allies.
