Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday framed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s assembly election victories, particularly the historic win in West Bengal and in Assam—as a decisive endorsement of “development-driven politics,” that reflects a broader shift in public sentiment toward the NDA’s governance model.
Addressing jubilant party workers at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, Modi said the verdict signaled “the trust of the people in performance and delivery,” adding that the wins were not merely electoral victories but a validation of the vision of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.”
He also lauded party chief Nitin Nabin’s leadership. “Today is a historic day. It is unprecedented. When years of efforts turn into success, the happiness that is seen on the faces of people is the same happiness that I see on the faces of BJP workers across the country today,” he said. The PM thanked voters for their faith and party workers for their tireless commitment on the ground.
The Prime Minister placed particular emphasis on West Bengal and Assam, where the BJP’s performance marked a significant political moment. He credited generations of grassroots workers—“karyakartas who have worked with dedication and patience over the years”—for building the party’s presence in regions that were once considered difficult terrain for the BJP.
“This victory belongs to every worker who stood firm in their resolve and served the people selflessly,” Modi said.
Highlighting what he described as a “clear message” from the electorate, Modi argued that the results reflected an expanding acceptance of the NDA’s development agenda, cutting across regional and social divides.
“The people have shown that they want a government that works for development, that prioritises opportunities, and that ensures dignity for every citizen,” he said.
He also underlined the government’s continued focus on transforming the states where the BJP has made electoral gains.
Referring to West Bengal and Assam, Modi said the party would strive to deliver governance that accelerates growth and improves quality of life. “We will work with full commitment to bring transformation, ensuring that every citizen feels empowered and included,” he told party workers.
The address came amid celebrations at the BJP headquarters following the party’s victory in key states, including West Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry.
Party supporters gathered in large numbers, waving flags and raising slogans, as senior leaders joined in marking what the BJP has projected as a politically significant electoral moment ahead of future contests.
The results, emerging from a fiercely contested round of assembly elections across multiple regions, are being seen as an important indicator of shifting political dynamics, with the BJP seeking to consolidate its position beyond its traditional strongholds while opposition parties reassess their strategies in the wake of the outcome.
