SRINAGAR : All Parties Hurriyat Conference while taking strong notice of the proactive role of Indian army in the villages and far-flung areas of Kashmir and harassment of the common people demanded the removal of all the army camps from the civil localities.

Hurriyat conference appealed the international community to take steps for the protection of Kashmiri people from the oppression of Indian army and use their influence to protect the civilian rights of the common people here. According to the press statement, a delegation of people from Logripora Sopore came to the Hurriyat office and complained that the army personals of the Wadoora and Pazaalpora army camps have made the life of the local people as hell. The army has started night patrolling in the area and during the patrolling the army personals forcibly enter the residential houses and not only this that they harass the people but they also ransack the houses and take away the precious articles which come in their way. Hurriyat said that the Logrpora village is their prime target and in the intervening night of 14/15 October, the army personals forcibly entered the many houses of the village which include the house of Mohammad Afzal Mir, Mohammad Yousuf Mir, Ghulam Ahmad Mir and Abdul Majeed Lone and ransacked the houses and harassed the people present in the said houses. This action of the army has sent a terror wave in the entire area and the people of the area don’t understand that for what crime are they being punished like this. The delegation said that these episodes have also terrified the school going children and they are hesitating to go to schools. The women avoid going to the fields and orchards because of the presence of Indian army there. According to the people, the army personals are always drunk and they abuse and pass indecent remarks on every passerby. They said that civil administration is silent over this issue and do nothing for the protection of the common people. While expressing its deep concern and anguish over this situation, Hurriyat Conference said that the presence of the army camps in the civilian areas is clear violation of the international laws and their presence has created many serious issues for the people of Jammu & Kashmir. While demanding complete removal of the army camps from the civilian areas, Hurriyat said that the civil government of this state is just for show and this state is virtually operated and ruled by the army and police.
