Mirwaiz invites Geelani, Yasin, Bar, Civil Society
Srinagar: Hurriyat (M) is organizing a peaceful sit-in at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar against the killing of Zahid Rasool, continuous crackdown on Kashmir’s resistance leadership and common masses, state-sponsored terrorism, attacks of Kashmiri Muslims by divisive and fanatics, arrests of youth, attacks on minorities in India, violations of political, religious and human rights after Friday congregational prayers on October 23, 2015.
In a statement issued to KNS, Hurriyat (M) spokesman said that Mirwaiz would participate in the sit-in protest demonstration along with other senior APHC leaders.
Mirwaiz has also invited the veteran resistance leader, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Jammu Kashmir High Court Bar Association President, Mian Muhammad Qayoom, civil society activists and other resistance leaders to participate personally in the sit-in programme and unitedly demonstrate against the attrocities committed against Kashmiris.
The aim of staging a sit-in demonstrationis to protest against the recent killing of Zahid Rasool Bhat at the hands of Hindu fanatics and extremists, placing restrictions on holding public gatherings and political activities of the resistance leadership, use of excessive force and military might on the peaceful demonstrations by police and Indian forces.
The sit-in protest by the Hurriyat (M) would also be held to attract the attention of the international community toward the excesses committed on the people of Kashmir by the Indian forces.
Hurriyat (M) wants to prick the conscience of the international community to take cognizance of the worst human rights situation in Kashmir and bring them to the conclusion that things in Kashmir can be changed for better only when they play their role in the resolution of the long-standing Kashmir issue.
Meanwhile, a spokesman of the Hurriyat (M) has condemned the house arrests of Mirwaiz and other resistance leadership, curfew in south Kashmir’s Islamabad region and undeclared curfew in Srinagar that resulted in hardships for the people, banning of Muharram processions and crackdown on Hurriyat activists and termed it as dictatorial and fascist attitude of the government and Indian forces.
He said such pressure tactics against the Hurriyat leadership and people would bring no results for the government as people and the resistance leadership was determined to carry forward the just struggle until it reaches its logical conclusion of fetching a right to self-determination of the people.
Spokesman said condemned the government for not allowing Muharram processions and for placing senior Hurriyat leaders, Moulana Abbas Ansari and Masroor Ansari under house arrest and thereby stopping them from performing their religious duties and paying tributes to the martyrs of Karbala.
He also condemned the use of excessive force, cane charging and tear gas shelling by police and Indian forces on the joint procession organized by Ittehadul Muslimeen Jammu Kashmir and Shia Sunni Coordination Committee from Batamaloo. The spokesman also condemned the continuous arrest of senior leaders Mukhtar Ahmad Waza and Javaid Ahmad Mir.
Hurriyat (M) spokesman also condemned the detention of Hurriyat leader, Muzaffar Rizvi and other civilian youth in various police stations of Kashmir.
He also said the Hurriyat (M) Chairman and Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema chief, Mirwaiz Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq would speak on the significance of the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), after Dhur prayers at Alam Sahab Narwara shrine on the occasion of Ashoora, the 10th Muharram on Saturday October 24, 2015.
