New Delhi, April 19 (UNI) Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday said collaboration between India and Bangladesh during the Covid-19 pandemic has been a “role model of good neighborhood diplomacy”, as she extended her wishes for the new WHO center for traditional medicines being established in Gujarat.
In a video message, the Bangladesh PM also lauded the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the pandemic.
“Efforts of government of India under the dynamic leadership of PM Narendra Modi in controlling the pandemic and achieving massive vaccination coverage is commendable,” Sheikh Hasina said.
She said that Bangladesh has also controlled the pandemic and the first dose of vaccine has been given to 100 percent of the target population while second dose has been given to 97 percent.
“The collaboration and exchange of Covid related medicines and medical equipment between Bangladesh and India during the surge of pandemic has been role model of good neighborhood diplomacy. Wokwhole world has seen how two neighbors support each other and work together during the time of crisis, ” she said.
The Bangladesh PM said emergence of Covid-19 pandemic has shown the need to revisit our focus on ensuring good health and well being of our people. “I believe if traditional medicine is pra ticed in tandem with modern medicine we may expe t better outcomeoutcome in ensuring basic healthcare for all,” she said.
She thanked the WHO for playing it’s role in the global pandemic and also said traditional medicine has been a part of the culture and tradition in Bangladesh and is also a part of their national health policy.
Prime Minister Modi on Tuesday laid the foundation stone for the WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar today.
