INDIA bloc will finalise J&K seat sharing early March: Congress

J&K Pradesh Congress committee President Vikar Rasool Wani on Thursday said the INDIA bloc partners would finalise the seat-sharing arrangements for the Union Territory by the first week of March.
Wani said nothing has been finalised on seat sharing so far.

“In the first week of March, the results will be before you and the seat-sharing arrangements of the INDIA alliance will be finalized,” J&K Congress president said in a press conference in Srinagar.

Wani said there would be good news in the coming days of Congress, National Conference, and Peoples Democratic Party finalising their seat-sharing. “We will fight the election jointly and sweep all the six seats of the erstwhile state,” Wani said.

When told that INDIA bloc partner National Conference has made it clear that there would be no discussion on the three Lok Sabha seats of Kashmir, the President of J&K Pradesh Congress committee said every party wants to contest as many seats as possible.

“We only have six seats including the one in Ladakh. So when talks on alliance take place seat-sharing is done at that time,” he added.

Wani said the people of the UT would teach the BJP a lesson for what they have done to Jammu and Kashmir.

“BJP has snatched Jammu and Kashmir’s special status and downgraded the state to union territories. They snatched our land and imposed property tax … They have not conducted Assembly elections in J&K for the last seven years. I am sure people of J&K will take revenge on BJP and give all the five Lok Sabha seats of J&K to the INDIA bloc,” he said.

Wani also said that the government should hold Parliamentary and Assembly elections in J&K together to avoid double expenses and save the public exchequer.

“If the situation is good for Parliamentary polls, why not for Assembly elections?” he asked.
