Amid the political upheaval in Bangladesh and the ensuing violent incidents, the Indian High Commission in coordination with the Bangladesh army and the authorities there has facilitated the safe passage of Indian nationals to the borders, in the midst of even life threatening situations.
The Indian Mission has advised on transport and movement issues and also coordinated with airport and airlines for flights.
The Mission Control Room has attended to over 350 calls in the past two days, it is learnt.
The Indian High Commission has facilitated the movement of Indian Nationals, including project personnel, across the land borders. Some of these situations were life threatening, it is learnt.
The Indian High Commission facilitated the travel of members of IRCON Khulna, L&T, RITES, Tata Projects, Afcons and Transrail Sirajganj ? through the land border
Mission advised on transport and movement issues and also coordinated with airport and airlines for flights movements of Indian Nationals including project personnel to the Airport.
Some instances are:
Personnel of Ashoka Build Con, RITES, Afcons, ITD Cementation (Sirajganj), KEC, Transrail Sirajganj and professionals of various Indian companies such as Sun Pharma, IOCL, NTPC, etc.
Mission also facilitated consular cases including immigration. Emergency Certificates have been issued to Indian nationals to facilitate their travel in emergency cases.
Mission has ensured that airlines continue to operate and not discontinue the services, which serves as a big enabler to ensure that people are not left stranded, it is learnt.
Bangladesh has witnessed massive violence amid the political upheaval following the resignation and fleeing of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to India on August 5.
