An inmate on Friday died under mysterious circumstances in Kot Bhalwal Central Jail here.
Police said that a prisoner lodged in Kot Bhalwal Jail died under suspicious circumstances while offering prayers.
“The inmate identified as Muni Mohammad of Rampura, district Kathua, fell unconscious in the evening inside jail premises while offering prayers,” the police said.
They added that he was taken into custody by the investigating agency for his alleged involvement in transporting weapons airdropped through drone from Pakistan and to the terrorists.
According to the police, Muni Mohammad was working for terrorist organisations for two years and a case was registered against him at Police Station Rajbagh, district Kathua.
He was rushed to the hospital, but after examination, declared brought dead, he said, adding, “He had died of suspected cardiac arrest but exact cause of death is being ascertained.”
