Srinagar: Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed faced snub from Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the rally Saturday when the PM said that he does not need “advice” on Kashmir.

"I don't need I need nobody’s advise on Kashmir in the world or analysis from anyone in this world on Kashmir. The three mantras of Atalji, "Kashmiriyat, Jamhooriyat aur Insaniyat', will be helpful in moving forward. Kashmiriyat ke bina Hindustan adhura hai," Modi said in his speech at Sher-I-Kashmir cricket stadium here this forenoon at the much-hyped rally.

“We have to make it strong. Jamhoriyat, Lok Sabha, Assembly and Mufti sb Panchayat. Its jamhoriyat and government will help them. Kashmir has shown it. Today, I appreacite Kashmir for taking part in jamhoriyat. Kashmiriyat, India is incomplete with Kashmiriyat,” he said, adding,  without Insaniyat, nothing can move ahead. We want to move ahead with these three mantras.

Earlier, in his short speech Mufti insisted that if India has to become big power in the world the country has to take along Pakistan with it.

“If Bharat wants to become big power in the world, if it wants to grow bigger than China, then India has to take along its younger brother (Pakistan) with it. We want hand of friendship should be extended with Pakistan,” Mufti mentioned in his speech dring the rally.

Mufti mentioned his oft-repeated Atal Behari Vajpayee’s words that India must have to maintain peace with Pakistan.

The chief minister said that after Vajpayee extended his hand of friendship with Pakistan from Kashmir the hostilities between the two nations receded for 10 years that brought peace in Jammu and Kashmir.

During his visit as prime minister in 2003, Vajpayee had at the same stage (Sher-I-Kashmir cricket stadium) said that Kashmir issue will be resolved under “insaniyat ke daire mein.” He had also announced to hold dialogue with Kashmiri separatists for the resolution of Kashmir issue.

Recalling Vajpayee words "Kashmiriyat, Jamhooriyat aur Insaniyat', Modi said he would like to “follow these three mantras”

“The three mantras-‘Kashmiriyat, Jamhooriyat aur Insaniyat' are the pillars of development of Kashmir.”

But the prime minister did not mention what Vajpayee had said on resolution of Kashmir issue and the hand of friendship with Pakistan.

PDP President Mehbooba Mufti had earlier in her welcome address to Modi mentioned that people of Kashmir want how “peace could be maintained in the state.”

“These are those people,” Mehbooba said, “who voted in enthusiasm in elections to join their hands with the whole country. They want how peace could be given to them, how development could be given to them,” she said in her short speech.

PDP leadership had from the last week repeatedly said that PM’s visit to Kashmir will be “historic”. (KNS)
