Iranian attack on American bases in West Asia is imminent: US officials

The United States has said that an Iranian attack on its bases in West Asia is imminent, following Sunday’s US airstrikes on Tehran’s nuclear facilities, reports Jerusalem Post.

Two anonymous US officials said that while Washington is still seeking a diplomatic resolution that would see Tehran forgo any attack, an attack by the Iranian military seems inevitable, with assessments ranging from between a day or two.

The IRGC has openly threatened retaliation, with one of its affiliate groups posting an image on X of an unknown underground facility in the Persian Gulf, with a plethora of ballistic missiles, reports Iran International.

US officials have warned Iran against hitting back at the US, and President Donald Trump said after the strikes that any retaliation by Iran against the US would be met with a force far greater than that used in the weekend US attacks.

The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Caine, said on Sunday that the US military had increased protection of troops in the region, including in Iraq and Syria.

The White House has also been increasing both its troop contingent and the weapons supply to its bases in the region, sending in additional naval support, aircraft, missile launchers, and has intensified its surveillance of Tehran.
