Jerusalem, June 1 (UNI/Xinhua) Israeli fighter jets have shot down a drone that entered Israeli airspace from Egypt’s Sinai Desert, the military said Wednesday.

“Israeli Air Force fighter jets intercepted (on Monday morning) a UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) in the airspace over the Negev, adjacent to Mount Saggi,” the military said in a statement.

The drone was identified and monitored during the entire incident until it was intercepted after crossing into Israeli airspace, according to the statement.
Israel’s state-owned Kan TV news reported that according to an initial probe, the Egyptian drone was unarmed and lost control due to malfunction.

There is no comment yet from Egypt.
