Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said in the Lok Sabha that January 22 will always be remembered as a “historic day” and the beginning of “New India” as it has cleared the path for India to become a “Vishwa Guru”.

Participating in a discussion on the historic construction of Ram temple and pran pratishtha, on the last day of the Budget session, the Home Minister said that January 22 will also be remembered by all and the generations to come at it has fulfilled the hopes and aspirations of all Ram Bhakts who wanted to see a grand temple of Lord Ram in Ayodhya.

Shah said that Ram Lalla Temple consecration in Ayodhya will always be seen as a respect for democratic values across the world as it was done only after the historic Supreme Court judgment.

He said that the long wait came to an end as it was destined that the dream of Ram Temple consecration will be fulfilled only during the Narendra Modi government.

“The construction of the Ram temple ended the long agitation that started in 1528, followed by long legal battles and no one can ignore the mass Ram Mandir Movement. But now the temple has been constructed after the SC judgment and it should be respected”.

He said that the Supreme Court Judgment on the Ram Temple has showed India’s secularism, adding that nowhere a majority community had fought a legal battle for so long for its faith.

Stating that he will not reply to any question but will only speak his mind and speak the sentiments of the people of the country, Shah said that it was the BJP that had promised to build the Ram Temple at the Palampur meeting by passing a resolution.

The Home Minister said that for the Ram Temple construction several people contributed the same way as squirrels contributed during the construction of Ram Setu.

Taking a dig at the Opposition, Shah said that whenever BJP mentions issues such as Ram Temple, Triple Talaq, Article 370, Uniform Civil Code, the Opposition term these promises as a mere promise to win elections. And when these promises are fulfilled, the Opposition oppose the government.

He said that the country cannot imagine itself without Ram and Ramcharitmanas. “Ram is the life and soul of this country”.
