One security personnel suffered minor injuries in an ensuing counter insurgency operation in which three terrorists are believed to be trapped in Billawar tehsil of Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Officials here on Thursday said that a cordon has been laid while the search operation to track down the hiding terrorists is being carried out by the joint team of Special Operations Group (SOG) and other security forces in Kahog village of Billawar.
“Encounter triggered between security forces and terrorists on Wednesday evening in the Kamadh nallah area,” they said.
They added that one security personnel also suffered injuries in the gunfight, adding, “the search operation to track down the hiding terrorists has resumed this morning.”
Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti in a post on X wrote, “despite darkness, thick vegetation and treacherous terrain, the SOG is relentlessly engaging the terrorists. Teams of the CRPF are also participating in the joint operation.”
