J&K: Encounter breaks out between security forces, terrorists in Doda

A gunfight broke out between security forces and a group of terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Tuesday evening

Police said acting on a tip-off, the police alongwith the army launched a cordon and search Operation (CASO) in the Goli-Gadi forest area of Doda district.

“The terrorists, believed to be two to three in number, fired at the search party, which was effectively retaliated and an encounter erupted,” they said.

The exchange of fire is on, said police.

Five army jawans were martyred and as many suffered injuries in a gunfight triggered after terrorists attacked an army truck on Monday in Badnote village of Lohai block in Kathua district.

On June 11-12, Doda district was rocked by twin terror attacks.

Six security personnel were injured when terrorists attacked a joint check post at Chattargalla on June 11. A policeman was injured in a gunfight with terrorists at Kota top in the Gandoh area on June 12.

On June 26, three terrorists were killed during an encounter with security forces in a forest area in the Doda district.
