The blaze was reported Thursday midnight in the three-storey ‘Biryani Hut’ hotel and restaurant in Beehama Ganderbal, causing extensive damage to the building, the Fire and Emergency Service officials said on Friday.

The fire also engulfed a three-storey shopping complex ‘Taj complex’ and a two-story commercial building housing State Financial Corporation (SFC) and Pollution Control Board offices, causing damage to the property.

Fire tenders were rushed to the spot from nearby fire stations to douse the leaping flames. Over a dozen shops of different types were damaged in the fire incident, they said.
