Amid the spread of Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD), the Jammu and Kashmir government imposed a complete ban on import of bovine animals from neighboring states, an official spokesman said on Thursday.

He said the ban on import of bovines will also be on the inter-district movement within Jammu and Kashmir for any purpose till October 25, 2022.

The order has been issued in the wake of the spread of LSD in J&K and some states of the country as a measure of abundant precaution and in view of the declaration of the whole Union Territory as “Controlled Area” for Lumpy Skin Disease.

The order further said that the decision will be reviewed on the basis of the evolving situation, the spokesman added.
