Srinagar (UNI): District administration Srinagar on Wednesday kick started the eight day long “Har Ghar Tiranga” championship to celebrate the 75th Independence day of India.

Besides sports events, cultural and social events would be held across the district during the 8-day long “Har Ghar Tiranga” championship programme, Deputy Commissioner Aijaz Asad said here on Wednesday.

He said various martial arts players will participate in the championship. There would also be other sports activities under this programme.

Asad said, the aim of conducting the championship is that the players who would participate in the games would know that they are playing while also celebrating the 75th Independence day of the country.

Regarding the spike in Covid-19 cases, Asad said that people should remain more vigilant and adopt all Covid appropriate behavior (CAB) norms. “There is no need to mention about the CAB after passing through several Covid waves in the past as everybody knows about it”, he said.

“I appeal to the people to wear face masks at the public places and save themselves from the infections amid rising cases of Covid -19 in Kashmir valley”, the deputy commissioner added.
