To enhance healthcare capacity-building in JK, the Jammu & Kashmir Medical Council (JKMC) has partnered with ECHO India, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to transforming healthcare education and training.
The partnership aims to strengthen Continuing Medical Education (CME) and skill development among registered medical practitioners across the Union Territory, leveraging ECHO India’s innovative model of case-based learning and expert mentorship.
The collaboration will foster knowledge-sharing networks, ensuring accessible and equitable healthcare for all.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Prof S. Muhammad Salim Khan, President of JKMC, and representatives from ECHO India, including Dr. Sandeep Bhalla, Vice President, Projects, in the presence of council members and ECHO India officials.
“This partnership bridges healthcare access and knowledge gaps in Jammu and Kashmir, empowering our healthcare providers with essential tools and mentorship,” said Khan.
Starting January 2025, JKMC will issue five-year registration certificates requiring renewal with 30 CME credit hours, supported by this collaboration.
Dr Bhalla expressed ECHO India’s commitment to the initiative, stating, “This partnership reinforces our goal of strengthening the healthcare ecosystem in Jammu & Kashmir, ensuring equitable access to quality care.”
The initiative will also support skill development in critical areas such as tuberculosis, oncology, tribal health, and geriatric care, marking a significant milestone in advancing sustainable and inclusive healthcare across the region.
