J&K Police attach movable property of bovine smugglers in Ramban

Jammu and Kashmir Police in a major crackdown on Thursday on organized bovine smuggling and the illegal accumulation of wealth in the Ramban district.


Senior Superintendent of Police, Ramban, Arun Gupta said that property worth nearly ₹30 lakh has been attached under Section 107 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in an action that followed the investigation of a case registered under relevant sections.


During the probe, he said it came to light that the accused individuals had amassed disproportionate assets derived from sustained bovine smuggling activities and subsequent investigation confirmed that three vehicles purchased by the accused were directly linked to proceeds of crime.


Acting swiftly, Police obtained attachment orders from the competent court and in compliance with the directives, and in the presence of the Executive Magistrate, the vehicles owned by Arbaz Khan Parvez Khan and Mohd Shafi, all residents of Chamba Seri, Ramban were attached.


The estimated market value of the attached vehicles stands at ₹30 lakhs.


The top cop said that the Police reaffirm their unwavering commitment to combating bovine smuggling with a policy of zero tolerance.


“The district police remain dedicated to ensuring that illegally acquired assets generated from such activities are traced, seized, and attached strictly in accordance with law,” he said.
