J&K Police detain two notorious drug peddlers under PIT NDPS Act in Ganderbal

Police have detained two notorious drug peddlers under Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act, after obtaining orders from the competent authority in Jammu Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

Police on Thursday said that, in a significant breakthrough in the ongoing efforts to eradicate the drug menace, two notorious drug peddlers identified as Danish Ahmad Dar, a resident of Wakura Ganderbal and Shahjehan Ahmad Parrah of Zazna Ganderbal under PIT NDPS Act, after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority.

The duo were involved in drug peddling mainly targeting the youths and have been detained and lodged in Central Jail Kotbhalwal Jammu and District Jail Udhampur respectively.

Police are fully committed towards protecting the society from the menace of drugs. These detentions are a step forward in dismantling the networks responsible for spreading this menace, they said.

Police also urged the citizens to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
