In a major breakthrough, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday seized a major haul of heroin suspected to be drone dropped from the Pakistan side close to an international border in Bishnah belt here.
A police spokesman in a statement said that in a breakthrough against cross-border narcotics smuggling, the Jammu Headquarters Zone Police in Bishnah this morning successfully recovered a massive consignment of heroin, weighing around 1.5 to 2 kilograms, which was dropped via a drone along the border area.
“Acting on precise intelligence developed over the past week, police teams had been maintaining a strict, round-the-clock vigil in the suspected sectors,” he said.
It further stated that the meticulous planning paid off when the illicit payload was intercepted and seized before it could reach its intended recipients.
A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) reached the spot to conduct a detailed analysis of the recovered contraband and gather vital scientific evidence, he further said.
It expresses that the successful seizure is a testament to the unwavering commitment of the Jammu Police to dismantle the narco-terror ecosystem.
“It highlights the force’s enhanced vigilance and tactical capability in countering emerging technological threats, such as drone-based smuggling from across the border,” said the spokesman, adding that a comprehensive investigation is underway to trace the forward and backward linkages of the Pak network.
