Jammu and Kashmir Police claimed to have recovered 190 kgs of Poppy straw concealed in 22 apple boxes from a vehicle and arrested three persons in Awantipora on Sunday.
A police party of Khrew during checking at village Munpora Androosa in south Kashmir intercepted a vehicle (Truck) with three persons on board. During the search, 190 Kgs of Poppy Straw concealed in 22 apple boxes were recovered from the said vehicle, police said.
Among the three accused persons, two identified as Balraj Singh a resident of Jamalpora Leeli Ludhiana Punjab and Danish Gaffar of Pahoo Pulwama were arrested, while the third accused person managed to escape from the spot, he said and added efforts are on to effect his arrest. The Vehicle used in the commission of crime have also been seized.
A case vide under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Khrew and investigation has been initiated.
Meanwhile, in Sopore a police party during a patrolling at Shalpora area Sopore arrested three suspected persons who tried to escape but were apprehended tactfully. During the search, 12 bottles of Codeine were recovered from their possession.
They have been identified as Nazir Ahmad Shah alias Bedaan, Nasir Ahmad Shah alias Anta, both residents of Neharpora Sopore and Danish Yousuf Bhat resident of Neharpora Sopore. They have been shifted to the police station where they remain in custody.
A case vide under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sopore and investigation has been initiated.
