JK Police’s SIU produces chargesheet against two accused in Srinagar Court

 Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) on Monday produced chargesheet against two accused, including an active absconding local militant in a Srinagar court.

The chargesheet was presented in a case registered at Police station Kothibagh Srinagar last year in September after a militant associate of “The Resistance Front” (TRF) Mohammad Rangrez of Firdousabad Batamaloo was arrested.

The other one chargesheeted in the case is an active militant Momin Gulzar Mir, as resident of Firdous Colony Eidgah Srinagar, who is absconding.

“The chargesheet of case FIR No. 37/2023 under section 4/5 Exp.Sub Act, 13, 18, 20, 23, 38, 39 UA (P) Act of Police Station Kothibagh Srinagar was presented before the Court of NIA Srinagar against two accused persons namely Mohd Rangrez who is presently on judicial custody at Central Jail Srinagar and another Momin Gulzar Mir resident of Firdous Colony Eidgah Srinagar, who is an active absconding ‘A’ category local terrorist regarding whom the Court is prayed to take cognizance under section 299 CrPC accordingly,” a police statement said.

The next date of hearing is fixed on March 16.

After the arrest of Rangrez last year, Srinagar Police had said that one hand grenade was recovered from him.
