J&K: SOG jawan martyred, 3 terrorists believed to be trapped in Udhampur gunfight

One Special Operation Group (SOG) jawan was martyred while three terrorists are believed to be trapped in an ensuing gunfight in Majalta belt of Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.


Officials here today said that one SOG jawan identified as Amjad Ali Khan, a resident of Poonch, sustained serious injuries during the gunfight on Monday night and was immediately evacuated, but he succumbed to his injuries.


Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the wreath-laying ceremony of the martyred SOG personnel today, IGP Jammu Zone Bhim Sen Tuti said that the operation was launched on Monday evening on specific inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.


Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP), Nalin Prabhat, along with other senior officers also paid floral tributes to the martyred jawan.


The IGP said the security forces established contact with the terrorists and gunfight triggered.


As per reports, three terrorists are believed to be trapped in the gunfight, he said, adding that the operation is continuing.
