Security forces on Monday launched a large-scale search operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district after suspected terrorists were spotted in the forested area of Majalta, officials said.
A joint team of police and paramilitary forces is conducting searches in Chore Motu village and adjoining forest areas in Majalta. The operation was initiated following specific intelligence inputs.
According to officials, two unidentified terrorists reportedly visited the house of a local resident, Mangtu Ram, at Chore Motu village around 6.30 pm and took food before fleeing towards the forest.
Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Police and security forces have intensified joint operations across multiple sectors, stretching from the International Border to mountainous areas along the Line of Control, to foil any infiltration attempts.
The searches are part of an exercise suggesting possible infiltration attempts, allegedly taking advantage of dense fog, amid reports of increased terrorist activity at launch pads across the border opposite Jammu, Samba, Kathua and Rajouri districts.
