The pilgrimage to Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Shrine remained suspended for the second consecutive day today in view of the weather advisory issued by the Indian Meteorological Department.
“In view of the inclement weather advisory issued by the Indian Meteorological Department, the Vaishno Devi Yatra today remained suspended for the second day and will resume on October 8,” Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board official said.
“Devotees may stay updated through official channels,” he further said.
However, hustle-bustle returned to Katra town in Reasi district after the suspended pilgrimage to Mata Vaishno Devi Cave Shrine earlier resumed on September 17.
The yatra was suspended on August 26 due to heavy rain.
As many as 34 people, mostly pilgrims, were killed and several injured after a landslide was triggered on August 26 due to heavy rains near the Inderprastha Bhojnalaya at Adhkuwari.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who is also the chairman of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, had also constituted a high-level three-member committee to probe the causes of the landslide.
