J&K : Weather likely to remain dry with rise in day temperature

Weather is likely to remain dry and day temperature may see a rise in Jammu and Kashmir till April 15, officials said.

Meteorological department forecast mainly clear to partly cloudy sky and day temperature may see a significant rise till April 15 and thereafter see a fall by 2-4 degree Celsius.

It said the weather will remain generally cloudy with intermittent light rain, thunderstorm or Lightning with occasionally moderate intensity rains for short periods at scattered to fairly widespread places of Kashmir Division and few places of Jammu Division from April 16-17.

The weather will generally remain cloudy with intermittent Light to moderate rain (light snow over higher reaches),thunderstorm with Lightning at widespread places of Kashmir Division and few places of Jammu Division during April 18 and 19, while generally cloudy with intermittent Light rain, thunderstorm and lightning at few places likely during April 20-21 in Jammu and Kashmir.

The weather will be mainly dry with occasional cloudy conditions from April 22 to 26, the MeT office said.

It has also advised farmers to spray their Orchards by April 15.

Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a low of 7.2 degree Celsius against 7.4 on the previous night and it was 0.4 degree below normal during this period of the season.

Qazigund, on Srinagar-Jammu national highway had a low of 6.0 degree Celsius against 4.4 degree Celsius on the previous night and it was 0.5 below normal for the gateway town of Kashmir.

Pahalgam, recorded a low of 3.2 degree Celsius against 2.5 degree Celsius on the previous night and it was 0.4 degree Celsius above normal for the famous tourist resort in south Kashmir district of Anantnag.

Kokernag recorded a low of 9.1 degree Celsius against 7.5 degree Celsius on the previous night and it was 3.0 degree Celsius above normal for the picnic spot.

Gulmarg recorded a low of 4.4 degree Celsius against 3.6 degree Celsius on the previous night. However, it was 2.9 degree Celsius above normal for the world famous ski resort in north Kashmir.

Kupwara settled at 6.2 degree Celsius against 5.8 degree Celsius on the previous night and it was 0.1 degree below normal for the frontier north Kashmir area, the MeT office said.
