The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) on Monday expressed its deep gratitude to Muslim Sewa Sangathan Uttarakhand, Miles2SMile Foundation, and Celebrating Kashmiriyat Group for their timely and compassionate support to Kashmiri shawl sellers who were recently assaulted and harassed by fringe elements in different parts of the country.
National Convenor of Association Nasir Khuehami particularly thanked thanked Muslim Sewa Sangathan, Uttarakhand, for promptly flagging the assault on an 18-year-old Kashmiri shawl seller in Vikas Nagar, Uttarakhand, and for extending crucial legal assistance, moral support, and on-ground coordination to the victim and his family at a critical moment.
He also acknowledged Celebrating Kashmiriyat, a pan-India collective working for the welfare of Kashmiris, for providing emotional and financial assistance to multiple Kashmiri shawl sellers who faced harassment in different states. Association noted that the group has extended support amounting to ₹40,000 to several victims, helping them cope with immediate medical needs and livelihood disruptions.
He further expressed sincere appreciation to the Miles2Smile Foundation for providing moral and financial assistance of ₹25,000 to the young victim assaulted in Uttarakhand. The Association added that Miles2Smile Director Asif Mujtaba has assured continued support for the next three months to cover the victim’s medical care and recovery.
The Association said that such gestures of solidarity go beyond material assistance and play a vital role in restoring confidence, dignity, and a sense of belonging among Kashmiri traders who often travel far from home to earn an honest livelihood. It added that these efforts reflect the best traditions of civil society, where empathy, constitutional values, and collective responsibility prevail over fear and hatred.
Association reiterated its appreciation for these organisations, noting that their solidarity sends a powerful message that Kashmiris are not alone and that humanity, empathy, and compassion continue to stand firmly against violence, fear, and intimidation.(JKNS)
