Bengaluru, May 19 (UNI) Karnataka is all set to get an All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS), according to Karnataka Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar.
“I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya ji for assuring an AIIMS for Karnataka. This will greatly benefit the state and further enhance the state’s health and medical education,” the minister said.
Earlier, Dr Sudhakar had submitted a proposal for setting up of AIIMS in Karnataka following a meeting with Mandaviya.
The state government will also set up a poly-trauma centre and postgraduate institute at Nimhans, a report of which has been submitted to the standing finance committee.
The 538-bed institute and centre will be constructed in the next three years at Kyalasanahalli on Hennur Main Road at an estimated cost of Rs 489 crore.
