77 militants, 45 Government Forces killed so far
Srinagar: Notwithstanding the claims that peace is prevailing in state, the militancy related incidents seems continues to rise in valley with government reporting that 77 militants and 45 security forces have been killed so far during this year.
“77 militants have been neutralized by Government Forces during the current year so far while during last year in anti militancy operations 106 were killed. Besides, 45 government forces were also killed by the militants during the current year so far. These include 26 Army personnel, 12 Policemen, 5 BSF personnel and 2 CRPF troopers. Last year, 62 Government Forces personnel were killed in different militant attacks,” the government disclosed today in Legislative Council.
They said unknown gunmen have also shot dead 35 civilians so far while last year the number of civilian deaths was 52.
Pertinently, the maximum number of killings this year occurred in the month of August. 32 persons including 14 militants, 4 Army men, 2 BSF Jawans, one policeman and 11 civilians lost their lives in the month of August while in September besides the killing of 2 civilians and 3 Army personnel, 18 militants were also killed.
