Srinagar: Some members of the Jammu & Kashmir Mountain Biking Association (JKMBA) have volunteered to deliver essential items, medicines and check on old people in Kashmir who are living alone without any relatives, while commuting on their bicycles.

The group of cyclists has requested that they be contacted through SMS or WhatsApp to mention the name, address, and requirements of old people who may be living alone. This has been necessitated by the Coronavirus epidemic and subsequent lockdown which particularly affects old people above the age of 65. Old people are particularly vulnerable to this disease and they are strongly advised to remain indoors and not venture out unless for visiting a health facility. While visiting the elderly, the volunteers will maintain safe distance and not physically interact with any of the old people, so as not to inadvertently infect them.
