Srinagar, June 2 (UNI) A labourer from Bihar was killed and another critically injured in a targeted attack in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday evening, officials said.
Police said the two labourers working at a brick kiln were fired upon at Magraypora Chadoora area of Budgam at about 9.20 pm.
“Preliminary investigation has revealed that terrorists had indiscriminately fired upon two outside labourers, identified as Dilkhush Kumar, a resident of Arnia Bihar, and Rajan, a resident of Punjab, working at a Brick Kiln in Magraypora Chadoora area of district Budgam,” a police spokesman said.
“In this terror crime incident, the duo had received critical gunshot injuries and were immediately shifted to hospital for the treatment of their injuries. However, one of the injured Dilkhush has succumbed to his injuries whereas the condition of other injured is stated to be stable,” he added.
Police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law.
“Investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the circumstances which led to this terror crime,” the spokesman said, adding the area has been cordoned off and search in the area is going on.
This was the second target attack of the day.
Earlier in the day, a bank Manager 26-year-old Vijay Kumar from Rajasthan was shot dead in a targeted attack at Kulgam in South Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alleged that it is a total breakdown of law and order.
“Mayhem! Two more civilians shot at in Budgam. Total breakdown of Law & Order. Will the govt still parrot the narrative of normalcy or has it internalised its own propaganda. Condolences with Dilkhush’s family & praying for speedy recovery to the other. Has peace been ‘established?,” PDP said in a tweet.
