Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha paid heartfelt tribute to ex-servicemen of the Armed Forces during a commemorative event on Veterans Day, presided over by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh in Akhnoor.

“I bow my head in gratitude to all the veterans, valiant Jawans, Veer Naris, and families of our Armed Forces’ brave hearts. We are forever indebted to our Veterans, who not only protected our nation but also contributed to its growth and development,” the Lieutenant Governor remarked.

Acknowledging the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh, LG Sinha highlighted the government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the interests of Armed Forces personnel and their families.

“Soldiers protecting our borders are the foundation of national security and development. It is a collective responsibility to ensure their welfare and dignity,” he emphasized.

The event marked the dedication of a 108-ft high Monumental National Flag and the Akhnoor Heritage Museum to the nation by Shri Rajnath Singh, symbolizing the courage and sacrifices of India’s Armed Forces. “Administration and society must express their gratitude by fulfilling their duties and ensuring that veterans and their families live in comfort and dignity,” he stated, highlighting various welfare initiatives, including educational and career support for veterans’ children.

During the event, homage was paid to Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa, the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army, with a two-minute silence observed for the martyrs. Mobility aids, including motorized wheelchairs and retrofitted scooters, were distributed to veterans and Veer Naris.

The program was a solemn reminder of the nation’s deep respect for its defenders, reinforcing the pledge to honor their sacrifices and ensure their well-being.(KINS)
