A 51 mm live mortar shell recovered from an Army unit in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday was disposed by bomb disposal squad, police said.
They said an information about the shell was received telephonically by Police Station Boniyar, from an Indian Army unit regarding the detection of one 51 mm live mortar shell during digging in their unit at Rampur Boniyar.
Police secured the area and ensured all requisite safety measures were put in place.
“The live mortar shell was safely disposed of by an Army BDDS (Bomb Disposal and Detection Squad) team in the presence of Station House Officer Boniyar,” police said.
There was no loss of life or damage to property during the operation.
