LoP Sunil Sharma accuses Omar Abdullah Govt of outsourcing of 24,000 posts

Leader of Opposition in J&K Assembly and senior BJP leader Sunil Sharma on Saturday accused the Omar Abdullah government of “betraying the youth” by “outsourcing nearly 24,000 posts”, alleging it undermines job opportunities for local aspirants.

Sharma said he raised the issue in the Assembly, questioning the Abdullah government’s promise of providing 100,000 jobs within 180 days but was now “justifying the outsourcing of 24,000 positions.” He claimed outsourcing to a private company had “shattered the dreams” of educated youth awaiting recruitment.

He called the outsourcing of 24,000 posts to a company “a big betrayal of the youth of Jammu and Kashmir” and warned of public anger if the decision is not reversed.

“A poor child whose parents worked hard to educate him waits for a job advertisement, an exam and an interview. That dream has been shattered,” Sharma told reporters in Srinagar after several political social activists joined the BJP.

He warned the government to roll back the decision, saying it could trigger widespread public anger. “If this order is not reversed, the government will have to face the heat of the youth in every street,” he said.

The BJP leader also criticised the chief minister’s conduct in and outside the House, terming it “frustration and arrogance,” and said the party would continue to hold the government accountable on employment and governance.

The BJP leader also criticised the chief minister’s conduct inside and outside the Assembly, alleging the use of derogatory language and threats toward political colleagues. He described such actions as a sign of “frustration and arrogance” in the face of public scrutiny.

Sharma further asserted that the principal opposition BJP would continue to question the government over employment policies and governance.

The LoP credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi with ensuring security in Kashmir and contrasted it with what he termed the loss of employment opportunities under the J&K government.

“Narendra Modi gave security to the people and Omar Abdullah stole the job,” he alleged.

Sharma alleged that for decades, two families dominated politics in Jammu and Kashmir and kept the BJP away from the people. Without naming the second family, he particularly targeted the Abdullah family, accusing it of misleading the public and betraying the interests of Kashmir.

“In Kashmir, two families kept the BJP away from the people through lies and propaganda. Today, young political and social workers are joining the BJP despite being affected by its policies. This shows that the acceptance of the BJP is increasing in Kashmir,” Sharma said.

He claimed that the Abdullah family’s political narrative is now being “exposed” and alleged that people are increasingly rejecting their leadership. “They have betrayed Kashmir, misled the people and tarnished the region’s image. Today, the people are rejecting them,” he said.

The BJP leader described the “shift as one of the biggest successes” for the party in the Valley.
