A man was arrested for allegedly killing his brother in Lohgarh village of Moga district, police said on Friday.
Police said the family and villagers told that Surjit Singh (35) was an addict and used to raise his hand on their mother Rajinder Kaur when not provided with money to buy drugs.
On Thursday evening he also did the same, younger brother Jaswant tried to intervene and a fight broke out between the brothers. Jaswant attacked him with Kripan and Surjit died on the spot.
Rajinder Kaur told the media that they had sent Surjit Singh to de-addiction centres for treatment many times, but in vain.
Police said Jaswant has been arrested and a case under section 302 has been registered.
