Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday booked an individual for allegedly operating at the tourist resort of Sonamarg in Ganderbal district using a forged license.
The accused, identified as Muzafar Ahmad Khatana of Sumbal Bala Gund in Ganderbal, was apprehended during an ongoing crackdown on unauthorized service providers. The action came as part of a special enforcement drive conducted under the jurisdiction of Police Station Sonamarg.
During the operation, Khatana was found operating at the tourist resort with a forged license. Police have registered an FIR under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is underway.
Police said that in earlier drives, 23 unauthorized service providers violating provisions of the Tourist Trade Act, 1978 were detained and fined.
Police reiterated their commitment to maintaining a safe and lawful environment for tourists in Sonamarg and urged visitors to avail services only from authorized providers.
