A man was sentenced to capital punishment along with penalty by a special court in Firozabad here in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday for murder of his relative, prosecution sources said here.
Prosecution sources said that on April 1, 2022 Kamla Devi (70), a resident of Arya Nagar locality under Uttar police station was killed by stabbing her in the neck with a screwdriver several times. “When Kamla’s maid resisted the assailant, who looted cash along with gold and silver jewellery, injured her seriously as well,” they said.
Prosecution sources said that initially Kamla’s grandson Arpit Jindal lodged a case against unidentified persons. “After investigation the police arrested Kamla’s relative Tarun Goyal, a resident of Sadar Bazar area in Meerut district, and recovered the looted items,” they said.
Prosecution sources said that based on the evidence presented by the prosecution the court of Special Court (Anti Dacoity) Azad Singh sentenced Tarun to capital punishment. “Tarun is the son-in-law of Kamla’s daughter and used to live with her in-laws in Uttar area,” they said.
