Minimum temperature dips below freezing point in Kashmir

Srinagar, (UNI) Minimum temperature dropped below freezing point in Kashmir valley with Gulmarg recording a low of minus 10.4  degree Celsius on Thursday, officials said.

The Meteorological Department forecast  mainly dry weather to prevail in Jammu and Kashmir for the next 24 hours.

Kupwara-Tangdhar road which was closed for the past three days due to accumulation of snow was opened for vehicular traffic. However, Kupwara-Sadhna Top, Furkian Top and Z-Gali roads are still closed.

The Minimum temperature shows a further drop as Gulmarg in north Kashmir froze  at minus 10.4 degree  Celsius  on Thursday against the minus  10.0 degree Celsius recorded a day ago.

Srinagar recorded a low of minus  0.1 degree Celsius against last night’s 0. 6 degree Celsius.

Pahalgam in south Kashmir also dipped to minus 8.5 degree Celsius against last night’s minus 5.1 degree Celsius.

Qazigund also in south Kashmir on Srinagar-Jammu national highway recorded a low of minus 2.0 degree Celsius against  minus 0.3 degree Celsius recorded the previous night while Kokernag  recorded a low of minus 2.7 degree Celsius and Kupwara minus 1.9 degree Celsius on Thursday.
