Continuing its sustained drive under the ongoing “Nasha-Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan”, Police achieved major success in multiple operations carried out across the valley, leading to arrest of thirteen drug peddlers, and recovery of a significant quantity of contraband substances.
In Anantnag, acting on specific information, a police party from Police Station Srigufwara conducted a raid at the residence of Nisar Ahmad Nadaf resident of Dachigam Srigufwara, and recovered approximately 2 kilograms of charas-like substance. In another operation, during naka checking at Shakras, Srigufwara police arrested Adil Ahmad Mochi son of Mohammad Ramzan resident of Badroo, and recovered approximately 2 kilograms of charas-like substance from his possession. Similarly, at Pethnoo Crossing, Srigufwara police apprehended Aqib Ramzan Rather resident of Chatrasoo and recovered approximately 2 kilograms of charas-like substance. In another operation, a police party from Police Post General Bus Stand intercepted a passenger auto (Reg. No. JK03Q-4950) at Iqbal Market near Mill Mod. The driver and a passenger identified as Javeed Ahmad Dandroo resident of Pandithpora Anchidoora, and Majid Akram Malik, resident of New Qazibagh Anantnag, were arrested. Approximately, 12 grams of heroin was recovered from their possession. In a separate action, a police party from Police Post Sangam apprehended one individual identified as Sabzar Ahmad Rather, son of Habibullah Rather, resident of Waghama Rather Mohalla, at K.V Pora Marhama. During checking, approximately 7.854 kilograms of Charas-like substance was recovered from the bag in his possession. Accordingly, cases have been registered and further investigations are underway.
In Awantipora, a Police party of PP Toll Plaza headed by IC PP Toll Plaza SI Ishfaq Ahmad under the supervision of SHO Police Station Awantipora arrested two drug peddlers identified as Junaid Tariq son of Tariq Ahmad Khan resident of Hariparigam and Mubashir Ahmad Wani son of Khazar Mohammad Wani resident of Panjpora, who were riding on a motorcycle (Pulsar) bearing registration No. JK03M-3900.
During search, 01Kg 258 grams of (charas/chura) like substance was recovered from their possession. The motorcycle used in the commission of the offence has also been seized. In another operation, a police party of Police Station Awantipora, apprehended two drug peddlers during naka checking at Nambal Crossing near NH-44. They have been identified a Rameez Ahmad Malik son of Mohd Maqbool Malik resident of Trehgam Malik Mohalla, Kupwara and Ubaid-ur-Rehman Malik son of Shakeel Ahmad Malik resident of Trehgam Malik Mohalla, Kupwara. During search, approximately 12 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession. Case under relevant sections of law have been registered and investigation have been set into motion.
In Pulwama, a naka party of Police Post Newa, while conducting checking at Zadoora, apprehended one person identified as Ab Qayoom Bhat son of Ali Mohd Bhat resident of Zadoora. During search, 520 grams of poppy straw like substance and 30 grams of Charas powder like substance were recovered. In another action, a police party of Police Post Rahmoo established a naka at Tujan Telsar crossing and apprehended one individual identified as Umer Ayub Rather son of Mohd Ayub Rather resident of Frasipora Pulwama, who was coming from Rahmoo towards Telsar. During search, heroin-like substance weighing approximately 3 grams was recovered. Cases under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Rajpora and investigation has been initiated.
In Ganderbal, acting on a specific input, Police Station Kangan was informed that one individual, namely Javed Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Rehim Dar resident of Khanan Kangan, had concealed contraband substance (Charas-like material) in a cowshed adjacent to his residence. Subsequently, a police team, accompanied by an Executive Magistrate and the concerned Lumberdar, conducted a search operation at the identified location following all legal formalities and procedures. During search, approximately 580 grams of Charas-like Powder was recovered and the accused was taken into Police custody. Legal proceeding has been initiated.
J&K Police reiterate its firm commitment to eradicating the drug menace from society and urges the general public to cooperate by sharing information regarding drug peddling and related activities. Strict action will continue against those involved in narcotics trafficking to safeguard the youth and ensure a drug-free environment.(JKNS)
