Army denies abduction

Srinagar: Police today said that the family persons of the missing persons from Kupwara were called to police station Kralpora and were shown photographs of the four militants killed in encounters since November 11 this year.

“The relatives of these missing persons denied resemblance of these photographs with those of their missing relatives in presence of the independent witnesses. Further investigation is going on,” police said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Army Wednesday said that the case of alleged abduction by Territorial Army soldier, rifleman Manzoor Ahmad Khwaja is sub judice.

“TA soldier reported to police whenever required by them. Full cooperation being extended by Army in investigations which are in progress. Individual has given his statement to the police,” Col NN Joshi PRO Defence Srinagar said in a statement.

“Army denies any case of fake encounter as alluded to in news reports. We stand by its policy of zero tolerance for HR violations,” he said. (KNS)
