Naval Commanders’ Conference gets underway

New Delhi, April 25, (UNI) Top Indian Navy commanders on Monday started a thorough review of the country’s maritime security, performance of weapons and an analysis of the security implications post the Russia Ukraine war.
“All Operational and Area Commanders of the Indian Navy are participating in the conference to review major Operational, Material, Logistics, Human Resource Development, Training and Administrative activities,” the Indian Navy said.

The Conference will focus on addressing the contemporary security paradigms while seeking ways to enhance combat capability of the Navy and make operations more effective and efficient.

A detailed review of the performance of weapons and sensors, readiness of Indian Navy platforms, ongoing Naval projects – with focus on ways to enhance indigenisation through ‘Make in India’ will be undertaken by the Commanders during the four day Conference.
The Conference would also dwell upon dynamics of the geostrategic situation of the region in the backdrop of recent international developments, the Indian Navy said.
Sources said that the top Indian Navy commanders will also draw tactical lessons from the Russia- Ukraine war during the Naval Commanders’ Conference, from April 25 to April 28.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will also address and interact with the top Naval brass of the country.
Recently, top Indian Army commanders completed a review of operational situation along India’s active borders, assessed threats in the entire spectrum of conflict and discussed in details the impact of the Russia- Ukraine war on induction of niche technology for five straight days.
The Chiefs of Indian Army and Indian Air Force will also interact with the Naval Commanders to address convergence of the three Services vis-à-vis a common operational environment, as well as discuss avenues of augmenting Tri-Service synergy and readiness, the Indian Navy said.
Regarding the ongoing Russia- Ukraine war, the IAF Chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari recently said that it is “for the first time we are witnessing the unfolding of truly hybrid warfare and it is a reflection of complete multi-domain operations.”
The Air Force Chief also said that “there is a lot to learn from the Russia Ukraine war.”

The Naval Commanders’ Conference serves as a platform for top Navy Commanders to discuss important maritime matters at the military-strategic level as well as interact with senior government functionaries through an institutionalised forum.
