One terrorist killed as encounter breaks out in J&K’s Rajouri

Security forces on Saturday neutralised one terrorist in a fierce gunfight erupted in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Police said that an encounter broke out in Khawas area of Rajouri between security personnel and terrorists.

The joint team of police and Army on specific inputs cordoned the area, they said adding, “the terrorists fired upon the security forces, which was retaliated, and gunfight triggered.”

“One terrorist has been eliminated in the ensuing encounter,” they said.

“Encounter going on at Khawas. Police party on the spot. As per ground feedback one terrorist killed so far,” Mukesh Singh, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu Zone confirmed.

Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday completed four years of abrogation of Article 370 as Central government on August 5, 2019 bifurcated erstwhile state into two Union Territories–the UT of J&K and UT of Ladakh.
