Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday said that people of both the regions of the Union Territory are enthusiastic to welcome the Amarnath Yatriss while the Security Forces are alert for ensuring the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.
The Shri Amarnath Yatra this year will be starting from June 29 with the first batch leaving from Jammu while another batch will be flagged off on June 30 from Srinagar.
“Lakhs of people had to face financial hardship since Shri Amarnath Yatra could not be held for the last two years due to Covid pandemic,” Sinha told reporters after taking a review of the Yatra arrangements put in place at Bhagwati Nagar based Yatri Niwas.
“There is a lot of enthusiasm among the people of Jammu region and in Kashmir too, this year and I see the local people are also ready to welcome the visiting pilgrims,” said Sinha.
He added, “the security forces are alert and have made adequate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Yatra, besides it has been our endeavor to make the best arrangements this year.”
Sinha, who is also the chairman of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board visited Yatri Niwas and reviewed arrangements for the Yatra this afternoon.
The Lt Governor directed the concerned officials to ensure health facilities, adequate number of Doctors, nursing staff, sanitation staff, duty officers on the Yatra routes.
Earlier, the Lt Governor was briefed by concerned officers regarding the facilities along the Yatra route, besides the arrangements in regard to water, power supply, sewage disposal, food and RFID counters at the Yatri Niwas.
The Lt Governor called for collective efforts of all stakeholders and inter-departmental synergy to ensure best in class arrangements and smooth conduct of the Yatra.
As notified earlier, the yatra will commence on the Baltal and Chandanwari routes simultaneously from June 30
Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; Mukesh Singh, ADGP Jammu; Avny Lavasa, Deputy Commissioner Jammu; Rahul Yadav, Commissioner, JMC and senior officials from the civil administration and police accompanied the Lt Governor.
