Lucknow, June 1 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said the Bharatiya Janata Party government at the Centre, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a resolve of service, good governance and poor welfare, instilled confidence in the country in the last eight years.

As part of ‘Report to Country’ programme organised by BJP on completion of eight years of Modi government at the Centre, Adityanath said, “There was an atmosphere of mistrust towards the government in the country before 2014. Separatism, extremism and terrorism were on the rise. Anarchy was at its peak. Corruption became institutionalised. Slogans to alleviate poverty were being raised for decades, but no concrete efforts for eradication were seen in 35-40 years.

“BJP government at the Centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with service, good governance and welfare of poor has instilled a confidence in the country in the last eight years. The PM took the command of the country in his hands in 2014. The works done in the interests of village, poor, farmers, women, youths and all sections of the society without any discrimination, as per the mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ has brought a massive change in the lives of 135 crore people of the country.

“The Prime Minister did what he said. Every scheme became a factor for self-reliance in the life of each and every person, society and the national life. These eight years have become of unprecedented achievements in service, security, good governance and poor welfare sectors. So many projects for infrastructure, effort to double the income of the farmers and efforts to connect the youth with employment have changed the picture of India,” he added.

He said, “The country has moved on the path of self-reliance with speed in these eight years. The confidence of people of the country has increased. Basic infrastructure facilities have increased in every sector. The benefits of development and welfare schemes have reached the needy people without any discrimination. The income of the farmers and poor has also increased.”

The Chief Minister said that a person standing on the last rung was moving ahead with self-reliance and self-respect, after getting the benefits of various government schemes.

“Women are participating in the development of society and nation with respect, security and self-reliance. Campaigns like Make in India, Digital India, Start-up India, Stand-up India, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao are proving to be a milestone in building a new India. Our youth is contributing with new confidence in building New India and New Uttar Pradesh,” he added.

He said that through the JAM Trinity, which is a combination of Jan Dhan, Aadhar and Mobile, the Prime Minister showed his foresight by providing benefits of government schemes to each and every person directly by eliminating corruption.

“The Corona period, during which benefits of government schemes to crores of people through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) is an exemplary example,” he said.

Yogi said that slogans of ‘Roti, Kapda aur Makan’ were raised often after independence, but did the previous government succeed in achieving the target of providing the houses. “It was promised that houses will be provided to shelter less by 2022 and it has been done successfully,” he said.

He said that under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), more than 1.22 crore houses were sanctioned in the country and in UP, 17.54 lakh houses have been sanctioned.

“Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (Rural), while 2.55 crore houses were constructed in the country, 26.16 lakh houses were given in UP,” he added.
