PM Modi holds AI roundtable with Deeptech Startups, calls for India-focused innovation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held a detailed roundtable discussion with CEOs and founders of 16 AI and deeptech startups, exploring how artificial intelligence can be harnessed to drive large-scale impact across key sectors of the economy.


The PM urged the CEOs to develop solutions tailored to India’s needs.


The interaction, held at Seva Teerth, saw startup leaders present their innovations spanning healthcare, agriculture, cybersecurity, space technology, education, environmental protection and social empowerment.


The entrepreneurs outlined how their AI-driven solutions are addressing population-scale challenges while positioning India as a global innovation hub.


In healthcare, startups are deploying AI for advanced diagnostics, gene therapy and streamlined patient record management to expand quality care to the last mile.


In agriculture, companies are leveraging geospatial analytics and underwater intelligence to enhance productivity, optimise fertiliser use and mitigate climate risks.


Other ventures are focused on cybersecurity, ethical AI frameworks, enterprise productivity, space sector innovation, and expanding access to justice and education through vernacular technologies.


The Prime Minister congratulated the innovators for taking bold risks and building impactful solutions. He highlighted the vast potential of AI in sectors such as agriculture and environmental protection, including monitoring crop productivity and fertiliser usage to safeguard soil health. Emphasising the promotion of Indian languages and culture, he called for the expansion of AI tools to support higher education in mother tongues.


Modi underscored the “importance of strong data governance and cautioned against the risks of misinformation.” He stressed, ” AI solutions must be tailored to India’s specific needs and developmental priorities.”


Drawing a parallel with India’s digital public infrastructure such as UPI, he described it as a model of simple, scalable innovation and expressed confidence in India’s ability to build globally competitive AI products. He also encouraged greater private participation in the space sector, noting strong investor interest in Indian startups.


The startup leaders lauded the government’s sustained push to strengthen the artificial intelligence ecosystem. They highlighted the sector’s rapid expansion and vast untapped potential, observing that the global momentum of AI innovation and deployment is increasingly shifting toward India. They also praised the India AI Impact Summit, describing it as a reflection of the country’s growing stature in shaping global conversations around AI.


The meeting was attended by CEOs and founders of Abridge, Adalat AI, BrainSightAI, Credo AI, Eka Care, Glean, Innogle, Invideo, Miko, Origin, Prophaze, Rasen, Rubrik, SatSure, Supernova and Sypha AI. Principal Secretary P K Mishra, Principal Secretary-2 Shaktikanta Das, and Minister of State Jitin Prasada were also present.
